Guideline on fees for developers

25/05/2004 The Star

SHAH ALAM: A standard guideline on maintenance fees will be introduced to developers in the state in a bid to prevent apartment and condominium dwellers from being charged arbitrarily.

State Housing Committee chairman Datuk Mokhtar Dahlan said the decision on the guideline was made as a result of the many complaints received from dwellers over hefty charges imposed on them.

“We feel it is very unhealthy and unfair on the dwellers who have no choice but to pay the charges,” he said in his reply to an additional question from Sungai Pinang (DAP) representative Teng Chang Khim at the State Assembly, who had asked if the state had any plans to introduce uniform maintenance fees.

Mokhtar said uniform fees would not be possible as the facilities and services offered at the various residential premises were not the same.
