'Submit CF
applications collectively'
The Star 2/04/2004
Residents of housing estates that have not been
issued Certificate of Fitness (CF) should form residents'
associations to collectively submit their CF applications.
MPAJ chief Ramil Mahmud said residents in such
areas should hire a draughtsman to prepare a layout plan of the area
and of the houses.
"The number of houses in an area has to be
indicated in the CF application.
"The council needs the layout of the houses for
record purposes because the majority of areas without CF was
developed even before MPAJ was formed," he explained.
The layout plan, he said, would come in useful
should residents want to extend their homes in future.
MPAJ had offered to issue CF to areas without CF
or expired TCF a few months ago but to date, not even one residents'
association has come forward to take up the offer.
"Residents should form a group and come as a group
as it will be easier for us to deal with one representative.
"They can all share the cost of hiring a
draughtsman as obtaining the CF will benefit them," Ramli said.
Bukit Antarabangsa is one of the areas where many
housing estates, condominiums and apartments are still without CF.
Ramli advised residents of Bukit Antarabangsa to
get their paperwork in order especially areas where the developer
has been declared bankrupt or is no longer in existence.
He said CF would be issued to Athenaeum at the
Peak, a high-rise condominium at Bukit Antarabangsa, in the next
couple of weeks.
Inquiries should be made to the Building and
Architecture Department at 03-42968009.
