Ready Before Accepting CF Applications, Says Ong

KUALA LUMPUR, April 25 (Bernama) -- Local authorities must ensure
developers have completed the houses before accepting their
applications for certificate of fitness (CF), Housing and Local
Government Minister Datuk Seri Ong Ka Ting said Sunday.
He said local authorities must make sure developers had complied
with all the conditions before accepting the E Form to process the
CF.
"I wish to remind all local authorities to check first whether
developers have fulfilled all the requirements in a housing project
before issuing the acknowledgement letter of acceptance to process
their CF applications," he told reporters after opening the 27th
general assembly of the Federal Territory, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan
and Pahang Gold and Gem Dealers Association.
Ong said he had received complaints from housebuyers that the E Form
had been submitted to the local authorities even before the houses
were completed.
"When a check was made with the local authority concerned, the
letter of acknowledgement had already been issued," he said.
Ong said only applications made after the houses have been fully
completed should be accepted by the one-stop centre to process the
CF.
The centre, established at all local authorities two years ago, is
to enable developers to apply for CF and other related transactions
at the same counter to simplify the application process and cut down
waiting time to get CF.
"I wish to remind developers to have the capacity and means to
implement housing projects before marketing the houses to buyers,"
he said.
Ong also announced the Kulai district council would be upgraded to a
municipal council after the Johor Government's application is
approved by the Cabinet at its weekly meeting on Wednesday.
"The date of declaration will be left to the state government to
decide," he added.
