AFTER selling more than 22,000 residential units,
MK Land Holdings Bhd has gone one step further – setting an example
as a responsible developer by putting its residents' safety at the
top of its list of priorities.
The developer organised a crime prevention seminar
for 50 of its security personnel, aged between 20 and 40, in
collaboration with the district police at the Tropics Business
Centre in Damansara Perdana, Petaling Jaya, on Tuesday.
Besides MK Land's project general managers, the
seminar was also attended by OCPD Senior Assistant Commissioner II
Datuk Ghazali Mohd Amin who talked about the district crime index
and manpower.
SAC II Ghazali also highlighted crime prevention
efforts that could be taken by the developer at its projects in
Damansara Perdana, Cyberia Smarthomes, Taman Bunga Raya and
Damansara Damai.
Senior police officers then enlightened the
audience on traffic and narcotics offences and how to prevent them.
Also present were MK Land executive chairman Tan
Sri Datuk Mustapha Kamal, Saujana Triangle Sdn Bhd chief operating
officer Peter Chan and PJ Selatan deputy OCPD Asst Comm Osman Abu
Bakar.
At a press conference later, Mustapha said the
objective of organising the seminar was to educate security
personnel as the developer placed much emphasis on residents'
safety.
”Most developers are more concerned about the
product, pricing and financing, and ignore that in the consumer's
point of view, safety is essential.
“From Datuk's (Ghazali) speech, we have been
introduced to methods that can be used to prevent motorcycle
thefts.
“We are not facing such problems yet but we cannot
assume that it is never going to happen. Prevention is better than
cure,” he said.
SAC II Ghazali said he was happy that MK Land went
the extra mile to ensure its residents' safety.
He added that such a seminar could increase the
interaction and co-operation between enforcement agencies and the
private sector to help prevent crime.
