Kuala Lumpur: A snooker centre at a condominium clubhouse
in Jalan Langkawi, Setapak, is causing concern to the residents there.
The residents said the three-year old snooker centre
is open to all and sundry, thereby presenting potential security problems
to residents of the Teratai Mewah Condominium.
Residents association president, S.K.Law, said: "Getting
into the premises is so easy. All one has to do is inform the security
guards that he or she wants to patronise the snooker centre, and the
guards will let them in.
"I am not accusing anyone in particular, but we have
received complaints of missing cars, motorcycles and even break-ins.
He said City Hall had fined the operators of the centre
in June for allowing the public in, but business continued as usual.
"The operators, can afford the fine as business is
good."
Law said the centre, which had three pool tables,
opens from 6pm onwards and at times, remain open after midnight.
