THE developer of Cemara Apartments in Taman Pinggiran Putra, Serdang, has
been requested to hand over the reservoir and pump house at the
six-month-old buildings to Perbadanan Urus Air Selangor Bhd (PUAS) by
mid-July, following complaints of low water pressure and poor water
quality.
“This means that the developer, Bulletin Engineering Sdn Bhd, has to make
sure that these two facilities are complete and fault-free within three
weeks,” said Serdang MP Datuk Yap Pian Hon at a dialogue held at the
apartments attended by the residents as well as representatives from the
developer, PUAS Petaling and Sri Serdang police station on Friday.
PUAS also took a sample of water supplied to the apartments to check if it
was contaminated.
The developer, represented by project manager C.T. Lim, had agreed to meet
the residents every Saturday to hear out their problems and take steps to
rectify them, which included garbage collection, security and defects in
basic amenities.
To control the increasing rate of petty thefts reported at the shophouses
next to the apartments, Yap requested for a meeting between residents and
police officers from the PJ Selatan and Sri Serdang police stations early
next month.
“The situation is very serious. There were 37 cases reported last year and
already 27 cases had happened between January and April this year,” he
said.
Yap also said other housing estates in the Air Hitam Forest Reserve were
experiencing low water pressure as well.
“The population of this area is expected to expand to between 80,000 and
100,000 by 2008 as 15 developers have projects here.
“The Semenyih Water Treat-ment Plant is incapable of providing sufficient
supply to all these areas,” he added, and appealed to PUAS to channel
water from Sungai Selangor Phase Three to these areas. |
