Developers should deliver on
promises
The Sun 11/10/2003
The Real Estate and Housing
Developers Association's view that the "property market has yet to mature
and demand for housing was still strong" (Sept 18) shoes it is not
prepared to accept that the market environment is changing.
As the saying goes, all good
things must come to an end.
Developers have enjoyed
tremendous margins over the years and many did not give buyers what was
rightfully due to them.
Complaints of shoddy
workmanship, failure to deliver on time and refusing to pay compensation
for late delivery are some of the most common grouses published in the
print media.
The build and sell concept is
very good and should be accepted by all. Why should the innocent buyer
have to finance the building of the house he buys?
Another obvious advantage is
that the potential client is able to view what he wants to buy, so sparing
him the pain of finding himself short-changed.
