KLANG: A developer who tried to avoid building 600
units of low-cost apartments in Ampang Jaya has been blacklisted and
ordered by the Selangor government to hand over the project.
Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Mohamad Khir Toyo said the
state viewed such lackadaisical attitude as an act to sabotage the
positive efforts of the government to achieve zero squatters before 2005.
“We have been tolerant with certain developers ... some
have followed our advice but sometimes there are those who purposely slow
down building low-cost units. This developer had one year to complete the
project,” he said after a Zero Squatters Special Meeting at Klang
Municipal Council yesterday.
Dr Khir added that the other reason the government
ordered the developer to hand over the project was the company’s
inexperience in the construction industry.
He said the project would
be handled by another company. |
