KOTA TINGGI April 19 - Local authorities have
never deliberately delayed the issuance of certificates of fitness
(CF) to house buyers, Director-General of National Housing
Department Datuk Mohamed bin Saib said today.
If at all there was any delay it was due to
technical reasons which had to be clarified in the interest of
safety of the houseowners, he said.
He said local authorities were eager to issue the
CF to the housebuyers as the occupied house would be a source of
revenue to them.
"However all 144 local authorities in the country
have been reminded to be careful when issuing CF as this involved
the safety of the occupants," he said when issuing CF to housebuyers
in the Taman Melati scheme here.
He said the issuance of the CF by the local
authority was in fact the end stage of the process as the developer
concerned had to seek technical approval earlier from various
departments such as the Fire Brigade, Public Works Department (JKR),
Tenaga Nasional Berhad, Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID),
Water Supply Department and Indah Water.
He said local authorities should adopt a
professional attitude and stick to the principle of working for
people's benefit and convenience.
At the function, he handed over the CF to 38
representatives of 400 housebuyers who have been waiting for the CF
since 1994.
