The residents of yet another high-rise project in Penang are facing
problems, this time with both the developer and the building
management.
Desa May residents in Relau claim their developer
who is facing financial problems has yet to apply for their strata
titles even though they moved in six years ago.
They also allege that the services provided by the maintenance
company is far from satisfactory even though it continues to collect
the RM60 monthly fee from residents.
“The maintenance company has not provided 24-hour security as
promised, and failed to deal with broken water mains as well as the
termite problem,” said Tan Lim Chua, deputy chairman of the
residents’ pro-tem committee.
Yesterday , the pro-tem committee headed by chairman Jessie Chan
called for a dialogue with the 200 owners of the low-cost apartments
to explain their course of action.
“We have decided to pool our money to apply for the strata titles as
the developer is unable to do so,” Tan explained, adding that they
would initially collect RM300 from each owner.
Also at the dialogue was Bayan Baru MP Wong Kam Hoong who told the
residents that the Land and Mines department director had empowered
the pro-tem committee to act on their behalf in applying for the
strata titles and in collecting money for the building’s
maintenance. |
