Complete project or face action, developer told

KOTA RAJA assemblyman Kamala Ganapathy has urged the developer of an abandoned housing project in Taman Bunga Ros, Klang, to complete the
project.
She said if the developer did not comply, action would be taken against it.
Kamala visited the project site recently following a Star Metro report which highlighted the plight of the 22 housebuyers who booked the
single-storey medium-cost units when the homes were already 65% completed in 1996.
A representative of Willow Construction Sdn Bhd, K. Thayalan, was also present during the visit.
Kamala told the developer that she was dissapointed with its attitude.
She said the housebuyers had waited too long for the homes and they “cannot afford to wait any longer”.
“As it is, the delay has turned the homes into a liability for the buyers, who have to service their bank loans and pay rental at the same time,’’
she added.
Kamala said the developer’s representative told her that they were in the process of connecting water and electricity supply to the homes.
She said the developer also promised to the complete the touch-up work on the homes within two weeks.
“The Klang Municipal Council will have no problem providing temporary CFs to the homes if the project is completed in time,’’ she added.
A spokesman for the housebuyers, V. A. Pandiyan, said he was grateful to Kamala for her help.
He said the anxious housebuyers “will be counting the days while keeping our fingers crossed. We cannot wait to move into our homes.’’
Another housebuyer K. Kovalan, 60, said the developer had in the past made many promises to deliver the homes but in vain.
It was reported that when the housebuyers booked their homes in 1996, they were told that the homes will be ready within six months. At that time,
the homes were already 65% completed. |
