Help for developers with CF problems

DEVELOPERS facing problems obtaining CFs for their projects will get City Hall's help. Datuk Bandar Tan Sri Kamaruzzaman Shariff said the backlog was due to developers not fulfilling certain criteria.

He said City Hall had decided to meet the developers to help housebuyers move into their homes. He added that his officers would meet the developers in batches of four to five to advise them on the conditions for CFs.

"We can only issue CFs if they fulfill the conditions. We can't be blamed if they do not," he added. He said before the CFs were issued, City Hall needed to obtain clearance from the Fire and Rescue Department, Public Works Department, Waterworks Department, and the Sewage Department.

"Unless the developers meet the requirements of the four departments, City Hall is not in a position to issue the CF. We can only issue a Temporary CF (TCF) until the conditions are met," he added.

The mayor said there was also development charges to be paid by the developers to City Hall before CFs could be issued.

He said there were developers who still claimed ignorance of the conditions. "When this happens, the buyers are the ones who suffer. In view of this we have decided to help these developers to fulfill the conditions," he added.

The mayor said TCFs were issued for six months, adding that there were developers who did not renew it at all.

"There are cases of developers continuing with the TCFs for years as they could not fulfil the conditions," he added.

However, Kamaruzzaman noted that fewer developers were facing such problems.
