No new CF for major repairs done

IPOH: Buildings which have been issued with a certificate of fitness need not get another after major repairs
are done to it, state Local Government Committee chairman Datuk Chang Ko Youn said.
He said under the Uniform Building Bylaw, renovations were a contractual matter between the vendor and the
purchaser.
"The engineer will certify whether the repairs have been done accordingly and the local council need not issue
another CF.
"CFs are issued only once irrespective of repairs done to the buildings,'' he said yesterday.
Chang was commenting on the renovations and repairs done on 14 houses at Bandar Pengkalan Indah which were found
sinking a year after the buyers had moved in.
The consultant engineer for the housing project said the guarantee for the repair works would be 18 months from
the day the keys were handed to the buyers.
He said the certificate of fitness for the repaired houses was not issued by the city council as it could issue
them only once.
He said the developer had submitted the necessary drawings of plans and designs for approval.
Repair works on seven houses costing RM480,000 started in August last year were completed on Feb 19. |
