Developers to face stern action

The names of two developers of low-cost homes in Petaling Jaya have been submitted to the Selangor Government
for action after they failed to deliver the units on time.
Petaling Jaya Minicipal (MPPJ) councillor Dr Wong Sai Hou said the council had submitted their names to the land
office recently, requesting stern action to be taken.
"We have recommended that the land office take back the land which they were suppose to developer for low-cost
homes," he said.
Dr Wong said the land office could acquire the land from the developer.
He said the names of several other irresponsible developers had also been submitted.
He added that it was part of the government's effort to tackle the squatter problem and meet the
one-family-one-home plan.
Dr Wong said the land office would be meeting the developers. He said these developers had been dragging their
feet for far too long. He added that among the reasons given was lack of funds.
Dr Wong said the council was trying to speed up all low-cost projects in the municipality. He said emphasis
would be given to areas such as Taman Mentari in Kamupng Desa Ria, where the squatter population was high.
"We have proposed that the squatters be shifted to Lembah Subang soon to enable us to clear the land for
development," he added. Dr Wong said the ground-breaking ceremony was expected to be held on July 1. The Fast-Track project will be ready in a
year. |
