The Menara Kuda Lari Housebuyers committee has been given the
mandate by frustrated purchasers to negotiate with the developer to
help revive the project which has been stalled for more than three
years.
Its secretary, Lim Beng Poh, said the committee
had last Monday forwarded a proposal to the developer Ever Noble Sdn
Bhd to look into appointing a receiver to complete the 80%-completed
project.
"Our legal adviser told us that it would take us three months as the
receiver would be appointed by the court,'' he told reporters after
meeting the housebuyers at Wisma Pengakap in Scotland Road here.
"We signed the sales and purchase agreement in 1994 and the project
was supposed to be completed within three years,'' he said.
At the meeting, 80 of the 195 purchasers present gave a full mandate
to the committee to negotiate with the developer.
Lim said the RM5mil project in Jalan Lahad comprised three 12-storey
blocks and two five-storey blocks, adding there were a total of 219
units.
Lim said the developer had taken the first contractor to court
regarding the removal of a tower crane, adding that the case had
dragged on for two years.
"We want a peaceful negotiation with the developer as we want to
resolve this problem as soon as possible.''
"Some of the purchasers have already retired and have to depend on
their children to pay the instalments,'' he said.
