Taman Pusat Kepong folk receive CFs at last

Residents of Taman Pusat Kepong were a happy lot when they received the Certificates of Fitness (CFs) for their
property after an almost decade long wait.
Segambut Member of Parliament Dr Tan Kee Kwong handed over the certificates in a simple ceremony held at the
Taman Sri Segambut Community Hall last Saturday.
Tan, who is also Land and Co-operative Development Deputy Minister, thanked Datuk Bandar Tan Sri Kamaruzzaman
Sharif as the temporary certificates issued had expired in July last year.
He said the delay in obtaining the CFs for the 853 residential and 121 shoplot-development project was due to
problems faced by developer Riang Bakti Sdn Bhd. during the economic downturn.
Among the residents who received the CFs was Lim Kin Tek who said traders in the area had faced problems with
authorities when business licences were in need of renewal.
The residents took the opportunity to voice their grouses on matters such as poor rubbish collection in the
housing estate, which comprised a mixed development of apartments and shoplots.
Tan urged the residents to form an association which could channel their complaints to the relevant authorities,
now that their properties had been issued CFs.
"I hope to be able to set up a meeting between the associations's pro-tem committee and City Hall in the middle
of next month so that both parties can sort out any issues," added Tan.
Later, Tan told reporters that there were other projects facing the same
problem and he had brought the matter up with City Hall during a meeting last month.
He said City Hall planned to form a committee, to be headed by deputy Director-General Ruslin Hassan, to look
into the delay in approval of CFs in other projects in the city.
Gerakan Taman Sri Segambut branch vice-chairman Chua Tong Wah and treasurer Peter Tuan Beh Wah were
present at the function attended by almost 100 people. |
