Ong: Proactive approach needed to
solve public woes

The Housing and Local Government Ministry will continue to reduce red tape
in its departments, Minister Datuk Seri Ong Ka Ting said today.
The Ministry, he added, had undertaken various steps to
simplify processes such as applications but there was room for
improvement.
Ong said public expectations had risen over the years
and the Ministry’s staff should not be complacent but proactive in
overcoming problems involving public interest.
“For example, if there are things you do not understand,
ask instead of keeping quiet. Be proactive and offer assistance to your
colleagues,” he told his officers before launching the Ministry’s Q-Day
celebrations here.
Ong also urged the staff to learn information and
communications technology skills.
Later at a press conference, Ong said everyone in the
Ministry should learn to take criticisms. |
