KUALA LUMPUR : The Government will not tolerate any “ nonsense” from
officers entrusted with the planning and approval of new projects.
Stating this yesterday, Housing and Local Government
Minister, Dato’ Seri Ong Ka Ting said he had received complaints from some
developers that when they submit their plans they were often told to make
changes.
When these complaints were looked into, it was found
that the officers were not using new guidelines provided by the ministry.
“I will investigate the source of such confusion and
find out who is not following our new directives,” he said when launching
World Town Country Planning Department yesterday.
“ I want a no-nonsense culture, for the sake of the
ministry,” Ong stressed.
His ministry will meet the private sector on Nov 20 to
discuss the need for facilities for recreation and community development
for all future projects.
Speaking to reporters later, Ong said all measure to
monitor highland and hill slope projects in the various states would be
streamlined soon to minimise risks.
He said was decided at the meeting of Menteris Besar and
Chief Minister on Thursday night, which was chaired by the Prime Minister.
Ong also said that this decision covered land higher
than 150m and those with a gradient of more than 25o.
