Condominium owners to get temporary CFs after 8 years
 08/07/1998 The Star

TEMPORARY certificates of fitness (TCF) for the Genting Court condominiums in Setapak will be issued next week after eight years of waiting.

Housebuyers Action Group protem committee chairman Allan Lim said they they were informed of the "good news" at a meeting with the Deputy Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Azmi Khalid at the ministry recently.

Representatives from the developer, Immetec Sdn Bhd, the shareholders and the project's consultants attended the meeting.

"The ministry is concerned with the hardship faced by the housebuyers after waiting for eight years.

"The deputy minister had even made a visit to the project site on June 15 accompanied by officials from the City Hall to check on the progress," Allan said.

The condominium project was launched in 1990 and comprises six blocks with 972 units.

However, the CFs were delayed when the developer failed to complete the amenities which prevented the housebuyers from moving in.

Allan said they were grateful to the ministry for stepping in to help the housebuyers.

He said the developers were asked to resurface the road and draw up car parking bays so that it could be inspected by City Hall before the temporary certificates were issued.

He added that the developer was asked to relocate the squatters by the end of the month to enable the construction of a drainage system which was the main criteria for getting a CF.

Housebuyer Richard Foo said he was looking forward to moving into his new home with his family.
