The liquidator of Majestic Heights Sdn Bhd is racing against time to
raise RM6.15mil by Friday as part-payment for 50% of revival work already
completed on Phase I of the stalled project.
As such, the signing of agreement and collection of RM7,500 per purchaser
to finance the revival of Taman Terubong Indah Phase I has been extended for
one week from Nov 2 to Friday.
The tripartite agreement involves buyers, project liquidator Deloitte
KassimChan and their end financier.
Deloitte KassimChan senior manager Chris Lim said over 1,000 of the total
1,557 purchasers had responded to the purchaser exercise by paying in cash,
applying for loans or making enquiries.
“The response has been quite encouraging and will contribute to the
confidence of the contractor in completing the project by December,” he
said.
Purchasers committee exe-cutive adviser S.L Chang said the new
contractor, Wira Properties Management Sdn Bhd, had been “kind enough” to
start revival work on Aug 19 without any advance payment.
Now that 50% of revival work on the nine-block project had been
completed, he urged purchasers to pay up for the work done.
“This is a case of work first, pay later so purchasers should not be
afraid the project would be stuck again.
“We already held two open days on Sept 15 and Oct 27 for purchasers to
see for themselves the work done that included repainting, infrastructure
work and the laying of Telekom cables,” he said.
He explained that the RM7,500 contribution per purchaser was to raise
RM12.3mil for the total cost of the revival.
Half the amount was to be paid to the contractor by this week for the 50%
work done while the rest would be handed over by end of December after a
100% completion ahead of the Jan 18 contract date.
He said those who had yet to respond to the exercise should “wake up” now
while contractors who held some 50 “contra units” should make clear to the
liquidators their intention.
Chang urged the purchasers to pay up at Level 15, Menara Notham, Jalan
Sultan Ahmad Shah to avoid the delay in the issuance of the Certificate of
Fitness.
The office (hotline number: 016-4977002) will be open from 9am to 12.30pm
and 2pm to 6pm until Friday.
Launched in 1995, the four phases of the project, comprising 2,955
housing units, 55 shoplots and 22 light industrial units, is the country’s
largest single abandoned housing project.
