Buyers’ reps to meet CM

The Taman Terubong Indah (Majestic Heights) phases 2A, 2B and 3A purchasers’
ad-hoc committees will meet Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon to
discuss efforts to revive the stalled phases.
Phase 3A committee chairman Eric Ciah said the meeting was necessary to
clear the air on allegations that the committees were not doing enough to
help revive the project.
He told a press conference that the meeting on July 1 would be attended by
Paya Terubong assemblyman Dr Loh Hock Hun, Bayan Baru MP Wong Kam Hoong and
the project liquidator.
Also present at the press conference were Phase 2A committee chairman Neoh
Hong Lee, Phase 2B committee chairman Lean Guan Jin and committee members.
Ciah was commenting on a recent statement by Dr Loh that efforts to revive
the project had stalled due to the failure of the purchasers’ ad-hoc
committees to work with the appointed liquidator.
Dr Loh was quoted as saying that since the appointment of Deloitte Kassim
Chan by the High Court, the committees of phases 2A, 2B and 3A had failed to
meet with the liquidator consistently to work out the details on how to
revive the project.
Ciah added that the committees had been having regular meetings with Dr Loh
to discuss ways and means to revive the project, and were surprised over Dr
Loh’s statement.
“We are afraid that those purchasers who have yet to register with the
committees will back away after reading such a negative report.” he said.
When contacted, Dr Loh explained that apart from meeting him, the committees
should also meet with the appointed liquidator consistently.
“I did not say that they have not been meeting me. I can only assist them
when both the committees and the liquidator have agreed on a revival plan,”
he said.
He added that his previous statement was to urge the committees to step up
their efforts to revive the project.
“Since the appointment of the liquidator in October last year, the
committees of these three phases only have three meetings with the
liquidator,” he said, adding that the meeting next week was to iron out
problems faced by the committees and the liquidator.
It is learnt that the committee for Phase 1, which is now in the final stage
of the tender exercise, had met the liquidator about 20 times since last
October. Work on Phase 1 is expected to resume soon. |
